This Week's Local Highlight: Community Creative Center
Creative Learning Opportunities in NWA

In Northwest Arkansas, there are countless ways to get involved in the arts, but few places offer as many hands-on learning opportunities as Community Creative Center (CCC) in Fayetteville. Located in the heart of Fayetteville’s arts district, CCC is a nonprofit visual and studio arts organization dedicated to making art education accessible to people of all ages and experience levels.
With classes, workshops, camps, community events, and more, Community Creative Center gives local residents a place to try something new, develop their skills, and connect with others through creativity.
Art Education for All Ages and Skill Levels
One of the things that makes Community Creative Center such a valuable resource for Northwest Arkansas is the variety of educational experiences it offers. Whether someone is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or looking to continue developing an established artistic practice, there are opportunities to learn.
CCC offers hands-on classes and workshops in a wide range of mediums, including clay and pottery, painting, drawing, printmaking, glass fusion, mixed media, and more. Classes are available for both children and adults, making it possible for families, individuals, and aspiring artists to find an experience that fits their interests.
The center also offers seasonal opportunities such as spring break and summer art camps, giving younger artists a chance to explore creativity outside of the traditional classroom. For educators and professional artists, CCC also provides teacher and artist professional development opportunities.
And if you're looking for a glimpse at just how much is happening at CCC, its September calendar is a great example. Current offerings include everything from Beginning Acrylic and Pastels to Handbuilding, Watercolor Painting, Creative Writing, Figure Drawing, Intro to Machine Sewing, and multiple levels of Wheel Throwing. There truly is something for a wide variety of creative interests.
A Hands-On Approach to Learning
Community Creative Center isn't just about looking at art—it's about making it.
The organization provides a 6,900-square-foot facility with dedicated studio spaces, including a fully equipped clay studio, glaze room, outdoor kiln yard, drawing studio, multi-purpose art studios, and gallery exhibition space.
That emphasis on hands-on learning is at the heart of CCC's mission: “To awaken the extraordinary power of art to engage individuals and community through accessible arts education.”
For students, that can mean learning how to shape clay on a pottery wheel, experimenting with color and texture, practicing drawing techniques, or discovering an entirely new creative outlet.
Bringing Art Beyond the Studio
CCC also works to make arts education accessible outside of its Fayetteville studio. In 2018, the organization introduced the Wheel Mobile, a mobile art studio designed to bring pottery wheel classes and workshops directly into the community.
Through partnerships with schools and school districts, nonprofit organizations, agencies, artist collectives, and other arts organizations, Community Creative Center expands access to art education throughout Northwest Arkansas.
Its educational reach is reflected in its impact. In 2025 alone, CCC served 6,710 students and members, reached 3,396 underserved children, offered 412 fine arts classes and workshops, partnered with 31+ schools and community organizations, and worked with more than 85 teaching artists and volunteers.
That's a lot of creativity happening right here in Northwest Arkansas!
More Than Classes: A Place to Connect
While education is at the heart of Community Creative Center, the organization also provides plenty of opportunities for the community to gather and experience art together.
One upcoming event is Pottery on the Patio on October 17, a free event featuring hands-on art activities, live demonstrations, studio tours, music, food and drinks, free ice cream, and a gallery open house. The event will take place alongside Gallery Hop, making it a fun opportunity to explore Fayetteville's vibrant arts community.
CCC will also host its Dia de los Muertos celebration on November 7, featuring art, live music, traditional food and drinks, and other cultural experiences. Later in the year, the annual Holiday Market will bring local artists and makers together from December 1–21.
For artists who want to continue developing their skills beyond traditional classes, CCC also offers an Open Studio Membership for experienced ceramic artists. Members can access studio equipment, wheels, tools, glazes, kiln firings, storage, and member-only events, creating an opportunity to continue practicing and developing their craft in a dedicated studio environment.
