A Major Force Fueling Arkansas’ Economic and Community Boom

When people think of reasons to move to Arkansas, they often cite the natural beauty, low cost of living, and tight-knit communities. But thanks to a recently released economic impact study by Arkansas State University, there’s now $2.5 billion more reasons to consider calling the Natural State home.

Arkansas State University: A Growing Economic Powerhouse

According to a new study conducted by The Parker Strategy Group and published in spring of this year, Arkansas State University (A-State) is playing an increasingly powerful role in shaping the state’s economy. The numbers are impressive: A-State now generates $2.5 billion in economic impact across Arkansas. That’s a significant leap from the last study conducted in 2013 and a clear signal that the university is not only growing—but elevating the entire region with it.

For every $1 invested in A-State by the state of Arkansas, a remarkable $7.10 is returned. That’s the kind of return on investment any economist—or homeowner—can get behind.

Why This Matters for Residents

This isn’t just good news for students and staff; it’s good news for anyone living or investing in Arkansas. Property values tend to rise around thriving universities. A-State's growth translates into job creation, higher local spending, and infrastructure development—all of which improve the quality of life in surrounding communities.

In fact, the study found that A-State’s activities contribute $152.2 million annually in state and local tax revenues. That means better-funded schools, parks, roads, and public services—making neighborhoods safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable to live in.

A Hub for Education, Healthcare, and Business

A-State’s strongest programs—education, health professions, and business management—are producing highly skilled graduates who stay and work in Arkansas. Alumni alone accounted for nearly $2 billion in added economic value across the state. Plus, with a new veterinary program on the horizon and plans for a surrounding entertainment district, A-State is investing in both brains and lifestyle. These developments will not only bring jobs but also attract new businesses, events, and leisure options to the area—making it more appealing for professionals, students, and families alike.

A Bright Future in the Natural State

Whether you’re looking to buy your first home, relocate for work, or invest in rental property, Arkansas is positioning itself as a smart choice—economically, culturally, and educationally. The growth and influence of Arkansas State University are proof that the state is evolving and thriving.

And for those of us in property management, that means stronger markets, more renters, and better communities. It's a great time to live—and invest—in Arkansas. Visit Elder Management Company’s
